Janis Turk is a travel writer and photographer who has written for The Chicago Tribune, The Dallas  Morning News , Southwest Airlines Spirit magazine, New York City Plus, Ranch and Country, Tinta Latina, America's Horse,  Metro San Antonio In Focus, San Antonio Woman, San Antonio AT HOME, and Texas Connections magazines, as well as in newspapers, tourism guides and literary journals across the South. Current projects include travel features for Today's Groom  magazine and Texas Co-Op Power magazine.

Janis is the managing editor of San Antonio AT HOME  magazine and also managing editor of South Texas Fitness and Health, magazine  published by Pixel Works, Inc.,  which also publishes BRAVO !  magazine and Denver Woman magazine. Janis has been a frequent guest travel consultant appearing on the popular “Travel Tuesdays” segments on the WOAI TV Channel 4 (NBC) television show San Antonio Living
Janis is the former managing editor of Country Lifestyle magazine, where she worked from 2004-2006, and during 2005 she was the senior travel editor for BellaOnline magazine. Today she travels extensively, writes and edits. Janis is currently writing travel guides for the cities of San Antonio and New Orleans for SmarterTravel.Com.

Janis is the official media contact and writer for the Gonzales Joe Bailey Memorial Committee in Texas (www.gonzalesjoebailey.com). 

A current exhibit featuring Janis' travel photography from Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico, and Antelope Canyon, Arizona, is on display in Texas at Craig's Sauté and Grill Restaurant. The exhibit is sponsored by the Arizona Communications Group of Tempe, Arizona, and Rancho de San Juan of Espanola, New Mexico. Her photography also hangs in New Orleans, Louisiana, at the KitchenWitch Gallery and bookstore on Toulouse Street in the French Quarter. Janis' photography from Venice, Italy,  has been on display at the Venezia restaurant on Carrolton Avenue in New Orleans; however, this restaurant is currently closed due to flooding from the aftermath of hurricane Katrina.

Janis is a part-time instructor at Texas Lutheran University in the department of English and Communication studies. She currently divides her time between her home in Seguin, Texas, and her writing office in New Orleans, Louisiana , where she is active in the vibrant writing community of the French Quarter.
